Beachy Ensemble

While I might not actually wear this type of suit to the beach, it definitely makes me think of it A blue-gray fabric with a thin white stripe certainly has me wanting to stride on the sand. It is cool, loose, and, if I might add, elegant, look.

The ensemble is a combination of 2 patterns, one for the blazer, and one for the pants. The blazer is made with Mood Fabric free pattern for the Ercilla suit (Get it for yourself here). The bottoms are made with McCall’s 7364.

I found the fabric at a Human Society Thrift Shop in Sandpoint, ID. There was 4 yds for $3.99 (Regular price, not even on sale!). This was just enough for the suit, and there is hardly any leftovers. When I saw there was 4 yds, I knew I’d need to make something bigger with it, not just a couple little projects. I guess I’m on a suiting role. My last project was also a blazer, though much less fitted (if you haven’t read about it, catch up on the times here).

The pants are made out of a simple drawstring PJ pants pattern I’ve used before. I changed the drawstring to elastic, and left off all the pockets. For the blazer, I followed the original project and didn’t change much.

In all, I’d say it took 6 hours. While I was working on this, I also had other projects going, so I am not certain. For the cost: Fabric (4yds)- $3.99, thread- $0.60, pattern- free and already had. SO, it only took $4.59 to create this look.

Suit- made be me/ earrings- made by me/ white tee- target

  1. Very stylish and looks great on you. By the way, do I detect new frames for your glasses or am I behind the times?
